Dedham Public Schools is looking for talented educators to fill multiple Special Education positions for the 2024-2025 school year.
Candidates must hold a Massachusetts Special Education License (Moderate and/or Severe). Dual certifications and prior classroom experience preferred.
Responsibilites include:
- plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences through the District curriculum
- establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- use relevant technology to support instruction
- observe and evaluate student performance and development
- provide appropriate feedback on work
- encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
- maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
- prepare required reports on students and activities
- manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
- participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
- communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- collaborate with Special Education and Regular Education support staff
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree strongly preferred
- Massachusetts Special Education Certification and Licensure
- Experience with students with Language-based Learning disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities and Executive Functioning challenges
- Specialized reading training- (Wilson Reading /Orton-Gillingham)
- Successful completion of QBS/SafetyCare training preferred.
- Successful experience as a special educator including performing assessments using a variety of standardized protocols.
- Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, parents/guardians, and others in the delivery of effective services.
- Strong behavior management skills
